Narayana Yagnam 2008
A Spirited Event
13th - 18th Jan 2008, Duddukuru,West Godavari District, AP, India.
This year Sriman Narayana Yagnam has taken place on Sri Parvatam (Gowripatnam, W.G. Dist) between 12th and 17th of Jan 2008. On 18th Shukravara Abhishekha was performed to Lord Venkateshwara on the hillock. The yagna was attended by about 725 people from 68 Satsang sakhas spread over 55 cities and towns of India and Abroad.

  The Poornahuti was performed on the afternoon of 17th while Sri Venkateshwara Kalyanam was performed in the night on the same day. About 24 couples participated in kalyanam while about 700 devotees participated in the celebrations, and the entire proceedings during the six days were gracefully done.

  The Governing Council of USCEFI met on 14th and worked out a calendar of events and celebrations with the festivals to be observed for the year 2008 by USECFI. Also on the same day Sri Prabhakara sharma of Girvana samiti delivered a full length talk on the needs for Sanskrit and enrichment of the Hindu culture with world peace and harmony as the target. He spoke in Sanskrit and thrilled the audience and devotees who were able to understand, appreciate his sarala and simple spoken Sanskrit. In between, he also gave some explanations in Telugu too.

  Further on 15th, General Assembly was convened and presided by Sri MVS Prasad IRS where in all the members of the 55 Shakhas (centers) participated.

  A book in Telugu Panchanga Rahasyalu authored by Pujya Sri Guruji Dr. Vedavyas IAS, Ph.D., D.Litt was released by Sri MVS Prasad on the 16th evening. Sri Gopalacharya, the pradhana ritvik and Sanskrit scholar of repute who is well versed with Agama practices delivered a brief talk on his experiences with Sri Guruji during the last four yagnas which he presided over.

  Gurukula students performed kolatam in the devotional/janapda style. Three girls performed Krishna leela dance to the tunes of Annamaya and other keertanas.

  Visits were conducted to Sri Shirdi Sai temple at Nidadovalu and to the satsang center at the village of Vunagantla which is situated 5 kms from sri Parvatamu.

  Sri MVS Prasad, president of USCEFI, laid the foundation stone for Satsang Bhavan at Vunagantla, land procurement action was completed for extension of Sri Abhaya Aanjaneya Temple at Tanuku which was established by pujya Sri Guruji six years back. Plans were drawn out and tasks were identified for enhancing the activities at Sri Sidhhi Vinayaka temple at Eemani near Tenali Guntur district.

  Three students from University of Vedic Sciences (USA) who have taken up studies on various topics under the guidance of G.V.S Murthry at Suraram Hyderabad, prepared Technical Articles on three different topics and presented those papers to the audience, similarly three students from Sri Parvatamu also presented papers (one each) during the evening sessions of Sriman Narayan Yagnam. Gurukul students of Suraram also recited Tirruppavai in a vibrant mode.

  On the whole, the event was a sprited one with Guruji's guidance and blessings clearly felt by every one.
